Background
I have practiced in all areas of business tax law, from C-corporations to partnership taxation, from public and private M&A transactions, from tax exempt entities to multi-state tax planning.
Before opening my own practice in 2010, I worked for a number of years in the business tax section of an AM Law 100 law firm, handling a wide array of tax issues for a broad spectrum of clients, from highly sophisticated international investment funds to family-owned businesses, to local schools and religious organizations.
I received my Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the New York University School of Law, commonly accepted as the top tax program in the country, where I had the opportunity to study under some of the top tax minds in the country, both in academia and private practice.
I received my Juris Doctorate (J.D.), with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law, a U.S. News top 20 law school, where I took the opportunity to study many different areas of business law, giving me the background to see outside just the tax issues and into the entirety of a client’s needs.
I received my Bachelor of Science (B.S.), cum laude, from the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering. I then worked for a number of years as an engineer consulting directly with business clients. I apply an engineering based practical and results-oriented approach to clients problems, which I believe is unique among transactional and tax attorneys, and for which I have received specific praise from clients.
